Do you know me?
I am a middle aged American success story…at least, I was. I joined the military after college and was an officer in the Finance Corp. Yeah, I okayed a local purchase for supplies at the end of a fiscal year…but, the supplies did not get purchased until the first week in October. For those who understand, this is a BIG no-no. While I did not actually spend the funds, my boss tagged me as the responsible person and, if found guilty, I would have to spend years in a Federal prison. Well, that is not how I wanted to live life…so I just walked away. Really, I left the car in the driveway, with the house keys and my cell phone on the front seat, and just started to walk. I did have some money with me, for food and maybe a flop house room. After that ran out, I started to stay in laundromats, parks, bus stops, wherever during the day and at a shelter during the night. So, here I am watching other people making a living while I sit in the shadows, afraid to do anything or go anywhere.
