Do you know me?

My name is Freda. I am in recovery from years of addiction. I have almost five years clean time now. But I’m still homeless because nobody will hire me. Back when I was using, I got a few convictions for drug related offenses, all minor things, all over five years ago when I was a different person, but they appear on my record so officially, I’m a felon. And it doesn’t help that I am missing four front teeth. Crack addiction wreaks havoc on your teeth. With missing front teeth and a felony history, who will ever hire me? I want to work, I’m dying to prove myself, but I just don’t know what to do. I’m a great cook. I’ll bet you’ve never had salmon cakes better than mine. And my mac and cheese is to die for. Will you help me find a job?
