Do you know me?

My name is Shane. I became homeless when my addiction to crack and heroin got out of control. I’m trying to rebuild my life, attending 12 step meetings, volunteering at a church, looking for work. I am sixteen weeks sober, but it is hard sometimes, having no warm place to sleep, living on cold pizza from dumpsters and being around people who are still using. What keeps me sober today is the dream that I might see my children again someday and being able to make up for all the time I lost. I have no money in my pockets but I do carry pictures of my kids. Like they say in the rooms of AA, I’m just taking this one day at a time.hmc16
