Do you know me?
My name is Alejandra. I just fled the home where my daughter and I lived because the man we lived with locked us both in the basement, never letting us out of the house. He never even let my daughter go to school. He forced me to have sex in front of her. I escaped with my daughter on Christmas Day once I realized that he had become drunk the night before and accidentally left the basement door unlocked. Escaping him – even though we were both barefoot and underdressed – was the best Christmas present we ever had.
